We are a mixed Foundation 2 and Year 1 class!

Our PE days are Tuesdays and Thursdays

Please send your child in their PE kits on their PE days for the Spring Term.

Our topics are Time Travelling and Kings and Queens

In the Spring Term we will be learning all about the people who help us, things from the past and present and important people. We will be thinking about important people, looking at past and present vehicles, sorting different materials and baking.

Over the term we will be covering all of the seven Foundation Stage Areas of learning.

Writing

We will following Drawing Club, Curious Quests and the Poetry Basket for our writing sessions. We will also be acting out stories and talking about the characters. In literacy will also be learning to write narratives, recognise taught digraphs and tricky words. We will begin to write words representing the sounds.

Maths

In maths we will follow the White Rose Hub planning where we will be will looking at mass, capacity, length, height and time. We will also look at the numbers 6-10 and explore 3D shapes. Some children will be exploring the numbers 20-50 including place value and addition and subtraction.

 Communication and Language

The children will be beginning to talk in sentences using conjunctions and ask questions to find out more. We will learn to use new vocabulary and re-tell a story. We are also following the Nottinghamshire Nursery Rhyme Progression and will be learning a new Nursery Rhyme each week.

Social, Emotional Development

 We follow the SCARF scheme and this term we are completing the 'Keeping Safe' and 'Rights and Respects' units. The children will be learning to recognise their own feelings and show resilience. We will also be participating in Take 5 and THRIVE sessions.

Physical Development

We will be participating in PE sessions delivered by our Coach Mr Wood as well as sessions from our PE scheme complete PE. We will be able to control a ball, balance on a variety of equipment and jump and land safely. We will be completing lots of dancing and running activities too.

Understanding the World

Within Understanding the World we will be covering History, Geography, Science, Computing and RE challenges. This half term we will exploring the past and present, features and observations of the environment and how to stay safe online. We will be learning about significant people from the past including inventors. In RE we will learning about different religions and listening to different Jesus stories.

Expressive Arts and Design

We will be following the KAPOW scheme for our music sessions and we will be celebrating with music. We will be looking at pitch, tempo and different rhythms. In d&t will be looking at structures and how to create bridges. In Art we will be looking at the artist Andy Goldsworthy.
