Curiosity Approach

  Welcome to our Journey!

We are excited to announce that Nettleworth Nursery and Infant School is working towards the Curiosity Approach Accreditation! The Curiosity Approach is about more than just beautiful play spaces – it is an inspirational modern-day approach to early childhood which takes inspiration from Reggio, Steiner and a sprinkle of Montessori, underpinned by the EYFS. It is a beautiful recipe of wonderful ingredients, carefully mixed together with experience, passion and a love of early childhood.

So we are embarking on a modern-day approach that fits perfectly in current changing technological times – bringing curiosity, awe and wonder into early childhood and creating the ‘thinkers and doers’ of the future. Over the upcoming year we are looking to reflect on our current practice and aim to provide an environment with authentic resources, recycled materials and loose parts that inspire children with open-ended learning opportunities.

We will be asking…

Is our environment cluttered and over stimulating?

Does our school feel homely and inviting?

Do we have aspects of nature within our nursery and classrooms?

Are resources easily accessible and thoughtfully presented?

Are there opportunities to access authentic resources and recycled materials?

Can you help?

We are collecting natural, metal and recycled resources to use in school as loose parts. Loose parts are a wondrous range of resources. They have some distinctive and wonderful advantages, many are free and can be easily collected or found – either outside in the garden or on that occasional walk with the dog. Alternatively, you could search the home for items in the recycle bin, shed, garage or simple unloved items lying around the house!

What can you find?

Can you help us by collecting loose parts and help bring curiosity, creativity and imagination our children’s play? To sort, handle and investigate – the possibilities for learning are endless.

So let’s get collecting!
