Mansfield Museum Science Fair
Nettleworth gets first prize in the Mansfield Museum Science Fair!!
What an achievement across school and KS1…the idea was that we look at the cycle of plants, flowers and all things flora and explore how this affects us and our marvellous planet Earth. We have planted, weeded, made our own compost, designed and created rainwater catchers to save on water supplies and are growing mini trees to keep in our classrooms to provide better air quality. The flowers will be transferred into pots and our school garden to attract wildlife and have our very own Nettleworth in Bloom during the Summer. Then even when we think that nature cannot keep on giving - we introduced Oliver Jeffers story 'Here We Are' - to explore what makes our planet thrive and how we can all live on it together…
We then proceeded to research Andy Goldsworthy the Artist and Environmentalist, to create some sketching and 3D art to celebrate nature even after its time on our planet. Nature is still beautiful even though it has completed its natural life cycle.
The children had a great time learning and Nettleworth entered into the Mansfield Museum Science Fair - where a select few passionate children made a presentation to be played at the Fair, along with a Nettleworth Display for KS1 that remained open for public viewing during February at the Mansfield Museum on Leeming Street. Look at our wonderful photo gallery too and video too.
We have won 2 wonderful planet Earth books, a well-earned certificate and an educational visit.
Well done to everyone!!!
