Our topic this term is:

Summer Term 2- Fun at the Seaside

This half term we will be learning all about Pirates, under the sea creatures and the environment. We will be creating our own maps, messages in a bottle and learning animal facts.

Each day our class participate in Plan Do Review. In the plan-do review process, children make plans, carry them out, and reflect on what they have done. In doing so, children learn to take initiative, solve problems, self-regulate, and accomplish their goals - their play becomes more purposeful and focused.

Over the term we will be covering all of the seven Foundation Stage Areas of learning.

Writing

In English we are looking at the stories Pirates Love Underpants, What the Ladybird Heard and Sharing a Shell. We will be creating our own messages in a bottle, describing Pirates, writing about our farm visit and writing sea creature facts.

Maths

In maths we will follow the White Rose Hub planning where we will be focusing on the themes find my pattern and on the move. Within these themes we will sharing and grouping, looking at even and odd numbers, finding patterns and relationships and consolidating our learning.

Communication and Language

The children will be beginning to express their own opinions and articulate their own thoughts and ideas.

We are also following the Nottinghamshire Nursery Rhyme Progression and will be learning a new Nursery Rhyme each week.

Personal, Social, Emotional Development

We follow the SCARF scheme and this term we are completing the 'Growing and Changing' unit. The children will looking at life changes, getting bigger and their bodies.

Physical Development

We follow the Power of PE scheme and this term we are preparing for Sports Day. The children will be showing increased control and become more confident and proficient in their movements and using equipment.

Understanding the World

This term we are learning about the environment and are having a special visit from the White Post Farm. We will be experimenting with floating and sinking objects.

In RE we will be learning different all about Christianity and places of worship.

Expressive Arts and Design

This half term will be making our own treasure maps and tea staining them, paper plate pirates, ladybird sun catchers and making shell fossils using clay.

Spring Term 1 - Ticket to Ride

We have loved learning about Space and the Solar System. We looked at the different planets, learnt about Tim Peake and completed lots of exciting space activities. We also discussed People Who Help Us and looked at different jobs and occupations.

Spring Term 2 - Come Outside

We have enjoyed learning about growing, plants, healthy eating and our bodies. We have learnt about butterflies and their life cycles and grew our own Sunflowers. We spoken about David Attenborough and talked about different animals. Also we discussed healthy eating and learnt about oral hygiene.

Summer Term 1 - Traditional Tales

We have loved learning about Traditional Tales especially The Three Little Pigs and The Gingerbread Man plus many more. We have learnt about materials and used props and materials to act out the stories. Also we have looked at the different changes in our lifetime and sequenced significant events and identified some features of personal significance.
